Cyclists Have Rights
Cycling is a beautiful activity. And no more so than in the amazing state of Colorado. However, due to a variety of reasons, not least of which is a failure of roadways to safely accommodate cyclists, cycling in the North Jefferson County area is also unnecessarily hazardous.
The only way this is going to happen is if we, the citizens of the North JeffCo area, demand from our elected officials that ignoring cyclists' legal right to be accommodated on roads that we pay for is no longer acceptable.
The area we are focusing on (as a start) is the area north of Golden, west of Wadsworth, and south of Hwy 128 -- what we are calling the NW JeffCo Bikeway.

Recent News
Currently, there is no clear, safe route for cyclists to travel between Golden & Boulder county. Most cyclists tend to zig-zag the backroads to avoid the high-speed roads (Hwy 93, Indiana and Wadsworth Blvd). But even these backroads can be dangerous -- as evidenced by the tragic death of cyclist Sidney Johnson (photo at right) on 100th Ave in October -- since most have no shoulders or bike lanes. We continue to wait for progress from Westminster. They promised to put Sharrows in on 100th Ave once the weather warmed. Certainly it's been that. Let's see some action!!
